The new building will have parking and townhomes at the lower level and commercial space and townhomes at the ground level. Apartments and amenity areas will be on the upper levels.
The building will have residential units that range from 665 to 1 889 square feet in size. They would be available in one, two, three and four-bedroom configurations. In partnership with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, 22 townhomes for sale would be built within the building.
The unit rents in the building will be at 30%, 50% and 60% of the area median income (AMI). Many units in the building will be subsidized by MPHA Project-based vouchers or Housing Supports via Hennepin county.
The second and rooftop levels would have amenities. There would be multiple indoor spaces and a large outdoor rooftop deck with large green space. An outdoor space with large seating would be built adjacent to the commercial space on Dowling Avenue N.
The new alleyway that runs along Washington Avenue N would allow parking to be accessed from the building. Each level of parking would have its own entrance. Residents and guests would also be able to use the first floor parking. The lower level would be reserved for residents.
MDA Architecture designed the building with DJR as Design Consultant. The building will be covered in metal paneling, metal brick, aluminum storefront and glazing. Exterior would be covered in dark metal paneling, with orange accents and linear metal paneling.
